FUZÛLÎ’NİN OSMANLI’YA BAKIŞI

At a point in time during the Ottoman-Safavid wars, Fuzûlî had lived in the districts of Baghdad, Karbala, and Najaf—a
region where the Shiite-Sunni conflict had been especially intense. Fuzûlî himself was a Shiite Muslim. Thus, this had entered
into the cultural sphere if not (by default) the conflict and warfare. It can be understood that his works had been
dramatically impacted by the heat of this tension. I had discussed the extent, as well as the direction of this impact a
previous paper of mine (Güler 2011).
In this study, we have attempted to describe at length how Fuzâlî viewed the Ottoman Empire, again with reference to his
collected poems and Şikâyet-name (Letter(s) of Complaint). We had discovered ridicule hidden within praise in is odes
penned to Kanuni as well as to Ottoman leaders. We had observed sarcastic, pejorative and slanderous connotations
peppered throughout this writings; and had found this to showcase both Fuzûlî’s mastery of language, as well as the value
within his written portrayal of certain historical events.

Fuzȗlȋ, Osmanlı-Safevi savaşlarının sürdüğü bir zamanda ve Şii-Sünni çatışmalarının yoğun olduğu bir bölgede, Bağdat,
Kerbela, Necef yöresinde yaşamıştır. Kendisi de Şii’dir. Bu çatışma ve savaşlara fiilen değilse de kültürel anlamda katılmıştır.
Eserlerinden anlaşıldığı üzere bu çatışma ortamından büyük ölçüde etkilenmiştir. Bu etkinin ölçüsünü ve yönünü bir
makalemde anlatmıştım (Güler 2011).
Bu çalışmada, yine divanındaki manzumelerinden ve Şikâyet-name’sinden hareketle, Fuzȗlȋ’nin Osmanlıya nasıl baktığını
anlatmaya çalıştık. Kanuni’ye ve Osmanlı yöneticilerine yazdığı övgü manzumelerinde, övgü içerisine yergi gizlediğini fark
ettik. Eserlerine yer yer alaycı, aşağılayıcı, yerici ifadeler koyduğunu gördük. Bu durumu hem Fuzȗlȋ’nin dili kullanmadaki
ustalığını gösterdiği hem de bazı tarihi olayları yansıttığı için yazmaya değer bulduk.
